Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Support Engineer

The Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Support Engineer will provide technical support and expertise for the overall health and management of the GCP infrastructure, services, and configurations. This role focuses on maintaining the platform's stability, security, performance, and cost-efficiency while offering high-quality support for customers or internal teams.

Responsibilities:

• Provide hands-on support for GCP environments, including Compute Engine, Kubernetes (GKE), Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, App Engine, Workflow, Firestore, Pub/Sub, BigQuery, Cloud Storage, VertexAI, Networking, and Identity & Access Management (IAM).

• Manage and support GCP services such as Cloud SQL, BigQuery, Pub/Sub, and Cloud Functions.

• Implement and follow security best practices across the platform, including IAM policies, VPC security, and compliance.

• Perform security updates to virtual machines (VMs).

• Lead troubleshooting efforts to resolve complex technical issues in real-time across GCP services.

• Respond to incidents, diagnose root causes, and implement preventive measures to avoid recurrence.

• Develop and maintain automation scripts to streamline processes like infrastructure deployment, backups, and monitoring.

• Utilize Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform to automate infrastructure provisioning and management.

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of experience in GCP-focused cloud support roles.

• Proficient with Kubernetes, serverless services (Cloud Functions, Cloud Run, App Engine), and scripting languages (Python, Bash, PowerShell).

• Strong understanding of networking concepts (VPC, subnetting, load balancing, VPNs, firewalls) and GCP pricing models.

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, Google Cloud Deployment Manager); familiarity with compliance standards (SOC2, ISO27001, GDPR, HIPAA) is a plus.

• Excellent English communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Collaborative team player with experience in cross-functional teams and mentoring junior engineers.

• Preferred: Google Cloud certifications like Professional Cloud Architect or DevOps Engineer.
