We are seeking a GCP Cloud Architect to join our Cloud Infrastructure team. This client-facing role will lead the assessment and discovery phase of a cloud transformation engagement, delivering a clear, defensible target-state GCP architecture and roadmap. The role involves working with technical and business stakeholders to evaluate current-state systems, identify risks and dependencies, and propose practical migration approaches.
Responsibilities:
- Lead technical assessment and discovery activities across the client’s enterprise technology and infrastructure landscape.
- Assess current-state architecture, networking, security, identity, and cloud readiness; identify technical, operational and organisational dependencies, risks and constraints.
- Define and document the target-state GCP architecture and transition approach, producing options analysis and evidence-based recommendations.
- Design or validate GCP landing zone architecture, including organisation/project hierarchy, IAM model, organisation policies, Shared VPC, hybrid connectivity, security controls, Cloud KMS, and logging/monitoring.
- Develop architecture principles, standards and artefacts to be used in subsequent transformation phases.
- Evaluate migration approaches for applications, infrastructure and data; contribute to migration sequencing and roadmap development.
- Collaborate with GCP Data Architects, Platform Engineers and other specialists to align cloud, data and platform architectures.
- Facilitate workshops and discovery sessions with technical and business stakeholders; translate technical findings into clear business implications.
- Produce executive- and stakeholder-ready documentation: current-state assessment, target architecture, options analysis, risks/dependencies, migration considerations and recommended roadmap.
- Act as a senior technical advisor for the client during the assessment, building stakeholder confidence through clear communication and high-quality deliverables.
Requirements:
- 10+ years of experience in enterprise and infrastructure architecture, including cloud transformation initiatives.
- Proven track record of delivering 3+ large-scale cloud migration programmes from planning through execution.
- Proven experience leading at least one assessment and discovery phase for a major cloud migration or transformation programme.
- Demonstrable experience with landing zone design, Shared VPC and hybrid connectivity, IAM and organisation policy, VPC Service Controls and Cloud KMS.
- Experience with cloud target operating model (TOM) and retained-organisation design.
- Experience authoring and evaluating RFPs and strong decision-paper writing skills (options analysis plus defensible recommendation).
- Proven experience designing and implementing GCP architectures and participating in migration programmes, producing decision-ready artefacts.
- Strong understanding of logging, monitoring, governance, security and cost considerations on GCP.
- Ability to evaluate architecture options, articulate trade-offs and make clear, defensible recommendations backed by evidence.
- Excellent stakeholder management, workshop facilitation and written communication skills; capable of translating complex technical topics for non-technical audiences.
- Experience considering operational, organisational and governance implications alongside technical architecture.
- Fluent English; Bulgarian language capability is highly desirable given client location and stakeholder interactions.
Nice to Have:
- Google Cloud certifications such as Professional Cloud Architect or equivalent.
- Hands-on experience with Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code tooling and cloud platform engineering.
- Experience with FinOps, cloud cost modelling and commercial considerations.
